January was not only the start of a new year, it also was a month for new passenger records at Orlando International Airport.
Domestic traffic in January was up 11.37 percent from the year-ago period, with 2,988,594 total passengers. International traffic increased 20.28 percent to 494,259 passengers. Overall traffic was up 12.55 percent for the month with a total 3,482,853 passengers coming in and out of the airport.
Airport officials said that for the month, airlines added 10.7 percent more seat capacity, or more than 400,000 seats compared to January 2015.
Orlando International Airport serves about 39 million passengers annually and is the second-busiest airport in Florida. It is responsible for generating more than $31 billion in direct and indirect revenue for the region.
